Juliette Mapp

Juliette Mapp is a dancer, teacher and choreo­grapher based in NYC. She has danced in the companies of Pat Graney, Neil Green­berg, Stephanie Skura, Deborah Hay and John Jasperse, for which she received a New York Dance and Performance Award “Bessie” for outstanding artistic achiev­ment in 2002. Juliette has taught tech­nique, improvisation and composition throughout the USA, Europe, Latin America and Asia. She is on the faculty of Move­ment Research, Trisha Brown Studio School, Dance New Amsterdam and Hunter College all in NYC.

Juliette has been an assistant to John Jasperse, helping create dances on Baryshnikov’s White Oak Project and The Lyon Opera Ballet. She has choreographed a number of solos and group dances on herself and other companies and recently completed her seventh dance in opposition to the war in Iraq, titled “one.”

What do you teach?
I am dedicated to a rigorous study of technique informed by many different methods including The Alexander Technique, Body-Mind Centering, Skinner Releasing and Kinetic Awareness.
