Sri Louise
Sri Louise is a contemporary dancer as well as an internationally acclaimed yoga teacher. Most recently, Sri acted as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui‘s physical coach for his project “Zero Degrees“ with Akram Khan, for the Ballets of Monte-Carlo and the Cullberg Ballet. Now she will be performing in Sidi‘s up-coming project, which premiers in June 2007. See also: www. undergroundparlour.com
What do you teach?
I teach a very physical form of yoga that was inspired by my early study at the Jivamukti Yoga Center in NYC. I started teaching in 1995.
In 2002 I created The Underground Yoga Parlour for Self-Knowledge and Social Justice in San Francisco where I conducted on-going asana classes, teacher-training and was proudly arrested from my yoga mat during wide-spread street demonstrations against the war in Iraq! I have become interested in using yoga to train dancers because I readily identify with the dancer‘s dream and the struggle to keep the dream alive.
