Dutch director Jan Ritsema talks about PAF (performing arts forum) and his idea of education

PAF is a place for artistic residencies, a place to work for any period of time on artistic, scientific, political and/or theoretical projects – an open, communal forum for producing knowledge in the context of critical exchange and ongoing discursive practice – a place for autonomy and full concentration on work – a tool to develop new methods and procedures, not necessarily aimed at a specific product – a place to experiment with new modes of production and organization for artistic work, e.g.

open source production – for people who can motivate their own knowledge production. Most importantly, PAF offers all these possibilities without imposing them. In other words, your PAF experience depends on how you actively shape your own creative activity and workplace.
In spring 2006, PAF opened in a huge old convent in a village closed to Reims in the north of France. PAF is for professional and not-yet-professional practitioners in the field of performing arts, visual art, new media, music, theory and cultural production.
