Frau Keil, Herr Barra, von allen berühmten Stuttgarter Tänzern John Crankos waren Sie die ersten. Sie, Herr Barra, hat Cranko schon im Ensemble vorgefunden, als er kam, Sie, Frau Keil, nannte er scherzhaft seine «Babyballerina». Aber Sie waren wirklich erst sechzehn. Ein Jahr später sorgte er dafür, dass Sie mit einem Stipendium an die Royal Ballet School gehen konnten und empfahl Sie der Obhut Kenneth MacMillans. Der war schuld daran, dass Sie vor Ablauf Ihres Stipendiums nach Stuttgart zurückflogen.
Birgit Keil Eines Tages während des Trainings in der Royal Ballet School ging die Tür auf, und Ray Barra und Márcia Haydée betraten den Ballettsaal.
Ray Barra Márcia und ich hatten die Balkonszene aus «Romeo und Julia» bei einer Gala für Margot Fonteyn im Drury Lane Theatre getanzt. Und John wollte immer, dass wir uns bei solchen Gelegenheiten an der Londoner Schule nach Talenten umschauen.
