How do you dance Einstein?

Einstein Year marks the hundredth anniversary of Einstein’s annus mirabilis in 1905, a year in which he made major contributions to three areas of science – special relativity, Brownian motion and the photoelectric effect. To celebrate this important centenary, 2005 has been designated World Year of Physics. The Institute of Physics in the UK and Ireland has drawn up a year-long programme of events to highlight the contribution of contemporary physics to society. Including an invitation to the Rambert Dance Company.

“Constant Speed“ provides the opportunity to bring Einstein’s ideas, revolutionary in both scientific and philosophical terms, to a public that would not normally encounter them. What may seem an unlikely collaboration has enabled two outwardly very different disciplines to share their knowledge and create a truly unique work. And as the project has developed, it has become clear how the two are surprisingly compatible.
