Hamburgs Tänzerin über den Abschied von Stephan Thoss aus Hannover

Stephan Thoss’s “Le Sacre du prin­temps“ seemed to have come, still writhing, out of his dark dreams to emerge full-fledged and independent. It is an ensemble piece, as it should be, to best show off this group that has grown up together. The massive imposing arms of the machinery which make up the stage design were overshadowed by the well-oiled workings of the Thoss company. One person, then another, then a couple would catch our eye, like the glitter of a gold nugget through the dark silt of a riverbed.

Humbly executing, and with a single-mindedness of worker bees, they were a force to behold.
A dancer, in order to become a choreographer’s wish come true, requires a choreographer. How proud Stephan must be! The evening was made poignant in our knowledge that this was the end, one last premiere for the group in this incarnation. Quite a few of the dancers know Stephan from his earliest creative days in Dresden. They accompanied him to Kiel and then on to Hannover, their numbers growing steadily.
