Chanti Wadge
Montréal-based Chanti Wadge came into dance “as a way of wanting to reflect on contemporary issues, and the experience of being human.” Her engagement in the form, like so many of her generation, is multi-faceted. “Multi-media can attend to different sense receptors that dance can‘t always,” she says. Technology affords her means to touch “the invisible, the surreal, and the hidden dimension of the physical world.”
Self-taught in the video field, she has gained recognition for her unique integration of dance with video in poetic environments and installations.
In 2002, she created 23 short dance videos, so called Experimental Edits, which were then adapted and presented in two specific projection environments, curated by Montréal Studio 303: “palmpilot” – projected in the palms of viewers hands, (“Projet/Projo,” 2002); and “Between Lines” – projected into the pages of an open diary (“The Home Show,” 2004).
