She is a human volcano from Iceland, proud of her body, voice and skills. She is the kind of strong, truly powerful female personality we need to see more of on the stage. At the Drodesera festival, near Trento, she presented a new piece together with Jóhann Jóhannsson, with whom she previously conceived and performed the signature work “IBM1401, a User’s Manual,” with the ultimate aim of creating a “suite” of ten songs/ten episodes combining music, movement and words. Like a song from the David Lynch film “Blue Velvet,” the piece is entitled “The Mysteries of Love.


Similarly to the dark, violent relationship between the night-club singer and innocent girl of Lynch’s movie, “The Mysteries of Love” describes a love-hate battle between two uncontrollable female spirits. Ómarsdóttir, a dark-haired bad girl in a fluid fuchsia dress, and co-creator Margret Sara Gudiónsdóttir, a sweet, glam-blonde Marilyn in a soft pink gown, enter the stage apparently innocent, hand in hand, listening to a melodic tune played on the piano.
