Anouk van Dijk
Anouk van Dijk was during her career as a dancer a celebrated, prize-winning soloist in works by a wide range of choreographers, such as Amanda Miller, Merce Cunningham, Stephen Petronio, Shusaku Takeuchi, Bebe Miller and Tere O’Connor. Having started to choreograph herself already in the beginning of her career, Anouk van Dijk founded her own company in 1998.
Her works have since then been presented worldwide with great success, by renowned festivals such as the Theatertreffen (Berlin), Adelaide Festival (Australia), Klapstuk Festival (Leuven), Springdance Festival (Utrecht) and many others. She was awarded the prestigious Lucas Hoving Prize for her work during the Dutch Dance Days Festival in 2001. She developed her own movement system, the Countertechnique, which forms also the main training method of her company.
Anouk van Dijk and several company members now teach the Countertechnique worldwide. A Workbook on the Countertechnique is scheduled to be published at the end of 2007.
