Louise Lecavalier, Tedd Robinson: «Cobald Rouge» in Montréal

When Louise Lecavalier is on the roster, the show is a big draw. If you ever saw her performances during her riveting career with La La La Human Steps and choreographer Edou­ard Lock, you’ll know why. Lecavalier’s vaulting, strutting, phenomenal dance persona was repeatedly described in the press as an unbeatable “human torpedo.

” After 18 years of association she retired from the company in 1999, gave birth to twins, and opened a new page on her dancing life returning to the stage a couple of years back, without the strut, in “Reclusive Conclusions And Other Duets” by Tedd Robinson.
Robinson was once artistic director of Contemporary Dancers of Winnipeg during the1980s, became a Zen monk in Ottawa, practicing hakukaze soto, all the while continuing his dance career. His own company, 10 Gates Dancing, started up in 1998.
Lecavalier and Robinson’s new collaboration is the much anticipated ”Cobalt Rouge,” an evocative and contradictory sounding title, which suggests images of hard blue rubbing up against the softer sounding red.
